Stories of my second home
Dust
The east coast of the United states is littered with abandoned buildings that have outlived their use. A small group of friends and me sometimes set out to find the most interesting ones. On the outskirts of Columbia SC we discovered an abandoned insane asylum and set out to explore its remains. By entering through one of the outerlying smaller buildings, we attempted to get inside through the large tunnel system, but wer’re eventually stopped by the potential of being caught in scurity cameras. Eerie light produced by the just rising sun combined with the many leftovers of a once very active place made for a sureal feeling.
Flowers
This is the first portrait I took on my DSLR. It depicts my younger sister who has always been and still is one of my best friends. Most things we do end up with the two of us dyin from laughter. In this case it didnt take long for all seriousness to be left behind. she picked up a small flower and pretended it was a ciggarette. Portrait done.
Beams
Light can make or break a picture. This portrait was left completely unedited to show off the 3 seperate beams that brighten the subject. A little less ISO would have ben good.
Late night pool
Through a mutual friend we found a small pool hall beside a private airport in Greenville SC. Eight tables, a small bar and dollar bills stapled to the wall. This was the kind of place you dont just stumble into by chance. Everyone here knew each other, everyone knew they could smoke in the backroom. Every night we spent here ended a different way, eventhough they all started the same. With a game of pool.
Blurred glass
Sometimes the things we see in our future are far too blurred for us to be seen clearly. we create this perfect path for us to follow, but when does anyone ever live out exactly the life they foresaw for themselves as kids? Our journey consists of ups and downs, sometimes the downs are so low, we don’t even see the end of it. That doesn’t mean its time to give up. it only gives us reason to keep on moving and keep on walking up.
